Bredabest: “Prins always thinks along with us about how things can be done smarter”

Bredabest has been processing nuts and peanuts for the business and private markets for 30 years. At two locations, in Raamsdonkveer and Giessen, Bredabest produces peanut butter for the consumer market. They are one of the largest suppliers in Europe. They have been working closely with Prins for many years for their material handling. Yorick van der Schriek, technical manager at Bredabest, says that they particularly appreciate the fact that Prins always actively contributes ideas for their specific situation.

Thinking in terms of possibilities

As technical manager, Yorick is responsible for supporting production, office work, logistics and technical services, among other things. For material handling at the production locations, he lists a whole range of machines used at Bredabest: ‘Reach trucks, forklift trucks, EPTs, pump trucks and shuttles. We have a lot of Toyota machines running.’

When Yorick started at Bredabest 3.5 years ago, Prins was already the partner in the field of internal logistics machines. He is very pleased with this: “They are always quick, offer unrivalled support and always think along with us. If there is a malfunction that causes us problems, there is always someone willing to help us out. They also provide us with a quick quote for new machines and help us consider the options available to us. They always think in terms of possibilities.”

Replacing hired equipment with own machines

In recent years, Bredabest sometimes used machines that were not their own, but were rented from Prins and other suppliers. They wanted to change that, says Yorick: ‘In the long run, renting is more expensive than purchasing the equipment yourself. We then took over a rented forklift from Prins and bought a new forklift.’

Around the same time, Bredabest needed additional reach trucks. According to Yorick, Prins once again demonstrated its ability to think along with the customer: “They still had those reach trucks available for another customer, but that customer had ceased trading. This meant we could take over those trucks and have the machines here very quickly. Normally, they are custom-built according to customer specifications, so these were slightly different from what we would have ordered. But in the end, they fit in well with our logistics.”

The Bredabest employees, who will ultimately be operating the machines, were also involved in the purchasing process, says Yorick: ‘We were able to take a test drive at Prins’s premises. Afterwards, we could indicate whether everything was to our satisfaction or whether any adjustments were needed.

Partner for material handling

Every forklift or reach truck is delivered based on specific specifications, Yorick explains: ‘If we want modifications to the trucks, Prins can always take care of that. Think of a change in the roof or the lights. That’s very convenient.’

Finally, Yorick is also very satisfied with the maintenance and service provided by Prins: “All machines receive annual maintenance, which always goes well. But a truck can sometimes break down, and there is always good communication about that. There is always someone who comes to take a look at the problem fairly quickly. If something needs to be ordered, it is ordered and followed up as quickly as possible once the material arrives. That actually works very well; they do it incredibly quickly.”

Yorick would therefore definitely recommend Prins to others, he says: ‘Prins is simply our partner for material handling and will therefore always be the first to be invited to tender.’
